Generational Artists
As a fourth-generational artist, I thought it would be fun to illustrate myself, my mom, my grandma, and my great grandma for a summer project. Each of us are graphic designers and studio artists. I started with a simple sketch drawn in Photoshop from a source photo I collected or took. After refining the proportions, I then blocked in the values in black and white to ensure accuracy as I paint.. I next overlayed color and refined each of the features starting from the eyes all the way down to the shirt and hair. A neutral background was painted behind and the mixer brush tool was used to blend the illustration with the background color. Each digital painting was created solely in Photoshop through a series of brushes, tools, and layers.
